54 deals signed with India since 2009

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali told parliament yesterday that Bangladesh had singed a total of 54 agreements, memorandums of understanding and protocols with India since 2009.

Responding to a query in the Jatiya Sangsad, the minister said that Bangladesh had so far signed a total of 87 agreements, MoUs and protocols.

Of those, 18 were signed in 2015, two in 2014, seven in 2013, 10 each in 2011 and 2010, one each in 2009, 2008, 2007 and 2006, three in 2001, two in 2004, three in 1999, one each in 1996, 1993 and 1992, two each in 1991 and the remaining 24 were signed between 1972 and 1985.

Apart from these, the incumbent government has renewed some old deals signed with India after assuming office in 2009.
