A pregnant woman was rescued from a moving microbus in the capital's Uttara area early Thursday when two miscreants attempted to rape her.
A patrol team of Uttara police chased the moving microbus, rescued the victim and nabbed the two criminals around 1:30am Thursday.
Later, the victim filed an attempted rape case with police station around 2pm.
Sohel Chowdhury, SI of Uttara police station, also the IO of the case, told the Dhaka Tribune: “Two miscreants forcefully pushed the woman inside their microbus around 1:30am Thursday when the victim was waiting at Uttara Bus Stand with her parents.
“Hearing the hue and cry of the victim and her parents, a patrol team of Uttara police chased the microbus. They rescued the woman while the criminals were trying to rape her.”
Later, the police detained the two criminals – Zahidul Islam and Rubel.
“They will be produced before a Dhaka court on the next working day.”
The SI further said the police handed over the victim to her family members on Thursday morning after primary treatment.
“She is pregnant and out of danger," Sohel said.
