At least 15 students of Government Michael Madhusudan College have been injured as some unidentified miscreants made a flash attack on their mess.
Of the injured, Shahnewaz, Fazlur Rahman, Shamimur Rahman and mess owner Rubel were admitted to Jessore 250-bed General Hospital in a critical condition.
The injured students alleged that the miscreants blessed by a political party have long been demanding extortion from them and they denied to meet it as usual.
Being infuriated by the move, the hoodlums equipped with fatal weapons repeatedly started beating up and stabbing the students living in the mess situated on the east side of the college around 10pm on Tuesday. At that that time, they termed the attack anti-Shibir drive loudly.
The attackers also looted laptops, mobile phone sets, money as well as valuable belongings of the students during the attack.
Kotwali police station OC Sikder Akkas Ali said he sent his team to the spot being informed by the local newsmen.
When contacted, the hospital's Assistant Registrar Dr Maniruzzaman Lord confirmed the admission, telling Fazlur's condition seemed to be critical as the miscreants stabbed in his abdomen.
