A housewife, who was set on fire allegedly by her brother-in-law on Monday, has succumbed to her injuries in Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
The victim's husband Bhupendra Pal and her daughter Ruma Rani confirmed the death, saying Sanchita Rani Pal, 40, breathed her last before dawn while she was undergoing treatment at the burn unit of the DMCH.
On the other hand, police arrested accused Haris Chandra Pal from nearby Mymensingh district on Monday night.
When contacted, Ruma Rani said her uncle Haris and her father often used to lock in altercations over family matter.
During Monday's quarrel, Haris set Sanchita on fire by pouring kerosene, leaving her critically injured.
She was whisked off to Netrakona Adhunik Sadar Hospital and then to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, from where she was finally referred to the DMCH when her condition deteriorated.
