A Dhaka court has fixed July 8 for hearing whether it will accept the charge sheet in two cases filed over the Rana Plaza collapse that killed over 1,135 garment workers.
Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Shahinur Rahman set the date on Sunday afternoon.
The court also show caused Kashimpur Jail Super for not producing Sohel Rana before the court.
However, other accused in the cases appeared in the court.
On June 1, police submitted two charge sheets against Rana Plaza owner Sohel Rana and 41 others in the cases.
The Rana Plaza collapse on 24 April, 2013 claimed at least 1,134 lives – the workers belonging to five garment factories housed in the building and left around 2,500 others injured.
Two cases were filed over the incident – one under criminal code while the other under building construction act.
A total of 41 persons including the building owner Sohel Rana, his father Abdul Khaled and mother Morzina Begum have been made accused in the killing case.
Twenty-five persons were shown absconding in the case.
A total of 18 persons were made accused in the case filed under building construction act.
Police have so far arrested 22 people, including Sohel Rana, government engineers, local political leaders and top executives of the factories. Of them, all but two, including Sohel Rana, were granted bail by the High Court.
