Wife of Rajshahi Wasa MD commits suicide

Wife of Rajshahi Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Wasa) managing director has committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her residence in the city’s collectorate field area.

Police recovered the body of Chandana Rani Sarkar, 45, and sent it to Rajshahi Medical College morgue for autopsy.

The incident took place around 10am Monday, said Wasa MD Dhirendranath Sarker.

Quoting Sarker, Rajpara police station OC Mehedi Hasan said: “Sarker went out home for physical exercise at 9am. When he returned home he found the door of his bedroom locked from inside."

With the help of his two sons and daughter, Sarkar broke off the door when he did not get any response from inside the room, the OC said quoting a general diary filed by the Wasa MD in the morning.

Breaking the door, Sarker found his wife hanging from the ceiling fan and informed police about the incident, OC Mehedi also said.

“Primarily we are assuming that the incident might have been occurred following family feud," OC Mehedi said.
