Over a hundred injured in Habiganj clash

At least 100 people have been injured in a clash while people of 10 villages got locked in a clash in Shaistaganj Municipality area of the district on Wednesday.

According to sources, there had been a long-standing enmity between Zahir Mian of the municipality and Junaed Mian of Purba Borochar village over establishing supremacy in the area.

On the day, their supporters from 10 nearby villages got locked in a clash during three hours with local weapons, leaving 100 injured. Several vehicles were vandalised and rail communication had been postponed for four hours during the incident.

On information, police went to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Of the injured, 30 were admitted to a local hospital in critical condition.

Iasinul Haque, officer-in-charge of Shaistaganj  police station, confirmed the incident.
