A Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) member has been shot and another abducted by Myanmar's Border Guard Police (BGP) in the Naf River near Damdamia of Teknaf border in Cox's Bazar.
The bullet-hit BGB man is Sepoy Biplob, 35, Teknaf 42 BGB Commander Lieutenant Colonel Abujar Al-Jahid told the Dhaka Tribune. He was admitted to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital. Later, he was shifted to Combined Military Hospital in Chittagong
Al-Jahid said their patrol team intercepted a BGP trawler in the Naf River inside Bangladeshi naval territory while it was conducting a search drive on another trawler around 6:30am on Wednesday.
Being angered by the move, the BGP men started shooting at the BGB trawler and left the spot promptly, leaving Biplob injured.
During this time, another BGB member named Abdur Razzak was taken away by the BGP men, BGB Cox's Bazar Sector Commander Colonel MM Anisur Rahman claimed.
BGB have instantly sent a letter to the BGP authorities protesting the shooting and abduction, said Anisur, adding that a flag meeting could be held any time on Wednesday over the issue.
