All types of markets and shopping malls are to remain open until 10pm during Ramadan.
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral resources Nasrul Hamid announced the decision after a meeting with business leaders at the Bidyut Bhaban yesterday.
The meeting decided to extend the closing times for all shops and markets across the country by two hours from 8pm until the 15th of Ramadan.
After the 15th, shops would be allowed to remain open for as long as necessary, but no official announcement of this decision was made, said a Power Division official.
Announcing that there will be no load-shedding during Sehri and Iftar, State Minister Nasrul also urged everyone to use electricity reasonably.
Prime Minister’s Power and Energy Adviser Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Power Development Board Chairman Shahinur Islam Khan, Dokan Malik Somity President MA Kader Kiron and others were present in the meeting.
