Supreme Court’s Registrar Syed Aminul Islam has been appointed its first Registrar General to speed up secretarial activities.
In a media statement on Sunday, the court said Chief Justice SK Sinha appointed him to the post until further order. The Chief Justice made the appointment after the law ministry has approved the SC proposal for creating this post.
“I got a copy of the appointment order today,” Syed Aminul Islam confirmed the Dhaka Tribune.
He said there are posts of registrar general at the Supreme Courts in many countries including India. Until now, there was one registrar post for supervising official works of the two Supreme Court divisions.
Justice Sinha had proposed posts of the registrar general, and separate registrars for the High Court Division and Appellate Division for better secretarial support. Later, a proposal was sent to the law ministry for creating a total of nine posts.
The law ministry nodded the proposal on June 1 after approval from the public administration ministry, finance ministry and the cabinet division.
