Pabna villagers want an end to Nizam bahini’s torture

People of the locality came up with the appeal at a press conference held at Pabna Press club yesterday. Abbas Uddin, a resident of the village, in a written statement said Nizam kidnapped Kohil Hossain on September 25. He got furious when a kidnapping case was filed against him with Pabna Sadar police station. Later, a group of miscreants led by Nizam looted at least 25 houses of village and assaulted a good number of people, including women and children. Since then, people of the area have been living with anxiety.  Abbas Uddin said: “We cannot stay at our houses fearing further attacks. They come at night and attack us. He along with his cohorts have killed many people in Pabna, Rajbari and Faridpur. Kudu Sardar, another residents of the village, said: “They kill people when anyone tries to raise voice against them. We have already informed local administration about the matter, but they yet to take any measure against him.” Local sources said Nizam claimed that he was a leader of Jatiyo Samajtantrik Dal (JSD). Amirul Islam Ranga, president of district unit JSD, told the Dhaka Tribune that Nizam was a general secretary of upzila unit JSD. They would not take the responsibility of his misdeed. The party would take action against him after proper investigation. Commander Bina Rani Das of RAB 12, Pabna said they tried several times to arrest Nizam, but could not as Nizam was very dangerous terrorist. They were trying to arrest the group as soon as possible. Superintendent of police, Pabna Jahidul Kabir said Nizam was accused in killing, robbery, arms and extortion cases. “The law enforcement agencies are active to arrest Nizam and his cohorts.”
