9 killed in road accidents in 4 districts

At least nine people were killed in separate road accidents in Natore, Dinajpur ,Bogra and Manikganj districts yesterday.

Our Natore correspondent reports: Three people were killed as a truck overturned on the road in Atrai bridge toll plaza area of Singra upazila in the morning.

The deceased were identified as Shahin, Shuvo and Chhoton.

Police said the accident took place when the truck overturned on the road breaking a jack liver while it was being repaired in the area around 12:30am, leaving Shahin dead on the spot and two others injured.

Injured Shuvo and Chhoton died on the way to Sadar Hospital.

Wazed Ali Khan, officer-in-charge of Singra police station, confirmed the incident.

In Dinajpur, three people were killed and 45 others injured as the driver of a bus lost control over the steering in Ghoraghat upazila in the morning, said our correspondent.

Among three, two of the deceased were identified as bus driver Md Sultan, 40, and a passenger Abdus Salam, 22.

Ghoraghat police station ASI Md Jakaria said, the driver of a Dinajpur bound Insaf Special Paribahan bus lost control over the steering and hit a tree at Raniganj Bazar area around 5:30am, leaving the driver and another one dead on the spot.

The injured were admitted to Upazila Health Complex where another one died.

According to Bogra correspondent’s report, two men were killed and 15 others injured in a road accident in west Singra-Dhaka Mor area under Adamdighi upazila.

The victims were identified as helper Rashmi, 25, son of Dablu in Patnitala upazila of Naogaon district and passenger of the bus, Nasir Alam, 18, son of Ziaul Haque of Joypurhat District.

The accident occurred when a Sapahar-bound BRTC bus hit a roadside tree as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving two dead on the spot and 15 others injured, said police sources.

The injured were admitted to Naogaon General Hospital. Later, among the injured Faruque was shifted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital Bogra. Police seized the bus, but its driver managed to flee away.

In Manikganj, a man was killed as a BRTC bus crushed into him while he was getting on it on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in bus stand area of the district town around 9am, reports our correspondent.

The deceased was identified as Abul Hossain, resident of Baghutia village of Daulatpur upazila.

Aminur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Manikganj Sadar police station, confirmed the accident.
