Heavy rain halts Dhaka commuters

Commuters in Dhaka have been suffering a lot due to the torrential rain that began on Thursday morning.

Incessant rain after the summer's scorching heat submerged many parts of the capital.

People from all walks of life, especially office goers, were the worst sufferers of the inclement weather.

The unavailability of vehicles and a long queue of traffic added to the sufferings of the commuters.

The water reached knee-deep or above-knee level in places including Mirpur, Shanitanagar, Mouchak, Malibagh and Rajarbagh.

The roads saw heavy traffic clogs after the rain that massively slowed down activities in the city.

Commuters were stranded on their way to office as the sudden water-logging created traffic congestion in the capital.

According to the Met Department, the rain in the morning was recorded to be 146mm.
