The Saudi government rejected a Bangladesh recommendation to raise the number hajj pilgrims by 25,000 to its fixed quota of 1,01,758, said a release of the Religious Affairs Ministry yesterday.
According to the release, the ministry is relentlessly working for increasing the quota and will inform all concerned through the mass media if the Saudi government approved the Bangladesh proposal.
The ministry believes increasing the quota of Bangladesh hajj pilgrims under the present context is absolutely impossible.
The concerned hajj agents are asked to complete all necessary preparatory activities, including opening savings account in Saudi Arabia and depositing money, completion of house-rent agreement and agreement with the Muallem in Saudi Arabia by June 18.
