No bar for 3 colleges to hold entrance tests

The High Court has stayed the education ministry's policy on admitting students based on their SSC scores for three Dhaka colleges – Notre Dame, Holly Cross and Saint Joseph.

A High Court bench comprising of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir issued the stay for six months on Monday, responding to the writ petitions filed by the principals of these three colleges.

The principals filed writ petitions separately, challenging six points of the policy issued by the education ministry on June 1, the lawyer Fida S Kamal told the Dhaka Tribune.

The HC bench also issued a ruling asking why the education ministry's policy regarding the issue should not be called unauthorised.

The secretaries for education and secondary and higher secondary education board were asked to answer the ruling within four weeks.
