Modi: India to walk along with Bangladesh

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed that India will move forward along with Bangladesh.

The Indian premier made the statement while giving his concluding speech at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on Sunday evening, ending his two-day visit in Bangladesh.

"How are you all. We are with you and we will walk along with you [Bangladesh]," Modi said.

He said: "My two-day visit ends today. But, it seems that I am going to begin the visit."

Modi said the respect he got from the people of Bangladesh is not only for him, it is meant for the 600 crore people of India.

He also stated that the development of Bangladesh would reach to India as the both are neighbours.

The Indian prime minister said he feels proud that the Indian soldiers sacrificed their lives during the 1971 Liberation War of Bangladesh.

He said Bangladesh's journey to achieve growth would never be constrained.

At the end of his speech, Modi expressed his willingness to visit Bangladesh again.

He is scheduled to leave Dhaka straight from the programme.

The Indian premier arrived in Dhaka on Saturday morning on a two-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He received the Friends of Bangladesh Liberation War Award bestowed on former Indian prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee for the latter’s role in the Bangladesh Liberation War.
