Defence gets Tk18,398 crore allocation

Finance Minister AMA Muhith has proposed an allocation of Tk18,398 crore for Defence services including the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces Division.

The minister has placed the annual budget proposal at around Tk2.95tn (Tk295,100 crore) for the 2015-16 fiscal year.

Of the proposed budget, the Ministry of Defence gets Tk18,377 crore and Armed Forces Division receives Tk21 crore.

In his speech, Muhith said: "Due to our success in modernising the armed forces, Bangladesh now tops the list of countries sending troops to the United Nations peacekeeping missions."
