Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called on civil service officers to serve the people instead of ruling over them.
She said since Awami League was elected to form a government, it took responsibility to perform as the people's servant, not their ruler.
Hasina was speaking at the Bangladesh Civil Service Academy in the capital's Shahbagh on the occasion of a concluding ceremony for a law and administration training course of the 92nd and 93rd batches on Tuesday morning.
“We have come to change the lot of the people, not to change our lot,” she said.
To this end, she emphasised scientific knowledge and digitalisation.
She said the government is working on strengthening the rural economy.
The PM also said it is a moral duty to work for the people.
She said we want to keep the development process up in the remaining time of this tenure.
