7 of a family burnt in Kalabagan fire

Seven members of a family have sustained burn injuries when a fire broke out inside a house in the capital’s Kalabagan area.

Of the injured, six were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. They are Sumon, Bithi, Rabbi, Ayon, Rozi and Mamtaz.

Zulfiqar, neighbour of the injured people, said: "Hearing their scream, I along with other neighbours went inside the house and took them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 7:45am Saturday."

He, however, could not say anything about the origin of the fire.

DMCH police outpost In-Charge Mozammel Hoque: "Six persons were taken to the hospital with burn injuries in the morning."

Dr Samanta Lal Sen, the founder, coordinator and adviser to the burn institute of DMCH, said: “The injured are undergoing treatment at the burn and plastic surgery unit of the hospital. All of them are in critical condition."
