A worker of Pran RFL Company has been gang-raped by four boatmen of the same company on a boat in Kaliganj upazila in Gazipur.
The eighteen-year-old girl was an employee of Pran RFL Company in Narishingdi. She was raped by boatmen on the boat owned by her employing company.
Kaliganj Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Arif said: “The girl was returning back to her house after work. She got into the boat owned by Pran RFL Company along with her co-workers around 8pm Wednesday.”
He said: “The co-workers got down of the boat when they reached to the shore of Shitolokhya river. Then, boatmen Al Amin, 25, and Fahim tied the mouth of the girl with a towel.
“Later, Al Amin and Fahim accompanied by two other boatmen Faruk and Sharif raped the girl,” he said.
The ASI said the locals caught Faruk and Sharif and handed them over to the police when they came to know about the incident.
However, the other two boatmen managed to flee the scene.
Kaliganj OC Mostafizur Rahman said: “A case has been filed in connection to the matter. The girl is in police custody now.”
