PM determined to fight against evil forces

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed her firm commitment to fight against evil forces.

Marking the birth anniversary of the national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, she was speaking before a large crowd at Town Hall in Comilla on Monday afternoon.

Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation stone of a series of development and construction works on the occasion.

The prime minister pledged to make Comilla a division.

Celebrating Nazrul's birth anniversary, Sheikh Hasina said the poet wrote about the suffering of the people.

In reference to the essence of Nazrul's works, the prime minister expressed her frustration over the three-month long violence that began from January 5.

BNP-Jamaat carried out a blockade and arson in the name of a movement.

In her speech, Sheikh Hasina said Nazrul wrote for all walks of people. He wrote against discrimination between rich and poor, and women, she cited.

His anti-communal writing has always been inspiring and his merit has no comparison, written for the woes of peasants.

Sheikh Hasina also mentioned that the Joy Bangla slogan was derived from his writings.

Great men can understand each other; so the father of the nation brought him to Bangladesh and honoured him as the national poet.

Nazrul showed us the way and the Bengali nation was liberated through a political struggle, according to that path.
