Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka today on a three-day visit upon the invitation of the Bangladeshi government.
Liu Yandong is considered as the advance party of the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.
She is scheduled to meet President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, and deliver a lecture at the Dhaka University during her visit.
Four to six Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) on education, culture and science and technology might be signed including a MoU on a cargo scanner to be set up at the Chittagong port.
“It is an important visit as we expect more top brass Chinese leaders to visit Dhaka,” said a senior official of the Foreign Ministry.
Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang is expected to visit Dhaka in September, he said.
