At least two people have been killed and two others injured in a clash between two groups of people over land dispute in the district's Gafargaon upazila.
The deceased are Abdus Samad Khan and Abul Kalam Khan.
OC Badrul Alam of Pagla police station said: “There was a long-standing dispute between Abdus Samad Khan and Liakat Meer over ownership of a piece of land which is being used as a walkway to a local mosque.
“On Friday morning, the people of Abdus Samad were working on the land while the people of Liakat Meer attacked them, triggering a clash.”
Abdus Samad died on the spot around 10am while three others received severe injuries during the clash, said the OC.
“Of the injured, Abul Kalam succumbed to his injuries at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.”
The police have arrested Liakat and his son Sajal after the incident.
