For the first time in the country’s history, a child budget is set to be included in the national budget for the next fiscal year, in an effort to protect the rights and welfare of children.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith made the disclosure to reporters yesterday following a meeting with the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights. He added that the upcoming child budget would be big enough to be recognised and appreciated by everyone.
The parliamentary caucus recommended that the child budget should cover the Primary and Mass Education Ministry, Health Ministry, Women and Children Affairs Ministry, Social Welfare Ministry, and Youth and Sports Ministry. A recommendation was also made to allocate Tk50 crore for the next fiscal year for the development of the country’s children.
