Jana Sanghati Samiti President Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma alias Santu Larma has alleged that a conspiracy was being hatched in order to turn Chittagong Hill Tracts into a Muslim-majority area.
Claiming that the changes are being made in the name of development, he said: “Every government claims themselves to be democratic and non-communal, but in reality, they are not.”
He was speaking as the chief guest at a programme on the eve of the 26th anniversary and 20th Council of Parbatya Chattagram Pahari Chhatra Parishad (Chittagong Hill Tracts Hill Students Council or PCP) at Rajar Math in Bandarban town on Wednesday afternoon.
Raising questions over the delay in implementing the CHT peace accord, He said: “Why has the peace treaty not been implemented even 17 years after being signed; had the Awami League government really been pro-people?”
He also alleged that the administrative officials in the hill districts were violating the peace accord.
Noting that the people of the hill tracts want freedom from the exploitation, abuse, and deprivation, he said: “But the government's way of treating us proves that it is acting like a colonial ruler.”
