A teenager has been killed and 20 others have been injured during a clash between two group of villagers over a land dispute in the district's Delduar upazila.
The deceased is Mosharaf Hossain, 18, son of Ashraf Ali Khan Ali of Atia union.
The clash ensued between the people of Gaziabari and Binduria Charpara villages on Wednesday morning following a dispute over ownership of the land of a local mosque.
OC Chan Mia of Delduar police station said: “There was a long-standing dispute between the people of these villages over the piece of land allocated to a mosque by Korotia Jamindar.”
“The land was allocated to the people of Gaziabari village, while it remains occupied by the people of Binduria Charpara. A case had also been filed in this regard earlier.”
The OC said the clash ensued as the people of Gaziabari village attempted to take control over the land, leaving 21 people injured.
Later, Mosharaf succumbed to his injuries at Tangail Medical college Hospital, added the OC.
The other injured have been admitted to Delduar upazila Health Complex and Tangail Medical College Hospital.
