An accused has jumped from the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court building soon after a judge cancelled his bail in a murder case.
Eyewitnesses said Nahid Box, 35, who is facing a murder charge, appeared before the Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 on Monday.
During the trial proceedings, court judge Shahidul Haque Zinuk cancelled his bail in the case after his lawyer filed a petition.
Soon after the court order, Nahid came out of the courtroom and jumped from the first floor of the building in a bid to escape.
Nahid fell onto a person named Sakandar Ali who was standing in front of the building. Sakandar Ali is also accused in another case and he came to appear before the court in his case.
The injured were first admitted to National Medical College Hospital. Later, Nahid was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Metropolitan Session’s Judge Court’s custody in-charge Sub-inspector Moffakharul Alam said: ‘‘We were standing in front of the building when the accused suddenly jumped from the court building at around 12:20pm. But I do not know why he jumped."
