Miscreants have stabbed a housewife to death at her fellow-wife's residence in the Mirzapool area of Chittagong city.
The deceased, Sharmin Aktar, 25, was the second wife of expatriate Abdul Hakim.
Panchlaish police Inspector Muhammad Giasuddin told the Dhaka Tribune that Sharmin had been staying at Abdul Hakim's first wife Rozina Akhter's house for the last two weeks.
"Miscreants entered the house and stabbed Sharmin indiscriminately at around 1:30pm on Thursday. Noticing the main gate of the house was open, neighbours looked inside and found Sharmin wounded," said the police official.
Later, the neighbours rushed her to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, where on-duty doctors declared her dead.
The victim's maternal uncle Md Azim claimed the attack resulted from a family feud.
"It was not a robbery, as the miscreants did not hurt anyone else present during the attack at the house. Rozina killed my niece in a planned way," he alleged.
Police detained Rozina and four others for interrogation.
Sharmin's body was sent to Chittagong Medical College morgue for autopsy.
