Railway Minister Md Mujibul Haque has said 270 new coaches are going to be added to the fleet of Bangladesh Railway within six months.
The carriages would be imported from India and Indonesia.
The ministry has been working intensively to reduce commuters’ sufferings during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, particularly to check ticket scalping, the minister continued.
The minister made the statement to journalists during his visit to the BR (East) workshop in the port city’s Pahartoli area yesterday.
“As usual, this year we are trying to ensure the best service during Eid just as we did last year by attaching 80 additional coaches. The shortage of engines and coaches will be removed within six months,” the minister said.
