Khandaker Mosharraf feels unwell at jail

BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain fell to the ground while performing his wudu at Kashimpur Jail on Sunday.

However, the BNP leader did not sustain any injuries after the incident.

Jailer Faridur Rahman Rubel told the Dhaka Tribune: “He fell to the ground while performing his wudu for the Fazar prayers due to weakness.”

“We immediately called the jail doctor to examine his health condition.”

Jail doctor Sahadat Hossain said: “He fell to the gound due to weakness. We have checked his health condition. He is fine now.”

Earlier on July 8, 2014, Khandaker Mosharraf was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) as he experienced severe chest pains.

He was brought from Kashimpur Jail and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital .

On March 16, 2014, a Dhaka court sent him to jail in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission for siphoning off money abroad.

Law enforcers had picked up Mosharraf from his Gulshan residence in the capital and handed him over to Ramna police station in connection with the case filed by ACC Director Nasim Anwar on February 6.

According to the case, Mosharraf laundered £804,000 (equivalent to Tk9.53 crore) to the UK when he was the health and family welfare minister during the 2001-2006 tenure of the BNP-led government.
