Ahsanullah Master’s death anniversary today

The 11th death anniversary of prominent labour leader and former AL lawmaker Ahsanullah Master will be observed nationwide today, and especially in his home district, Gazipur, with a daylong programme.

On this day in 2004, Ahsanullah, elected twice from the Gazipur Sadar-Tongi parliamentarian seat to the Jatiya Sangsad (1996 and 2001) was gunned down by assailants at MA Mazid Miah High School in Tongi, while speaking at a party rally.

He was a member of the ruling AL National Committee, and was involved in the Teachers Association and other national and international institutions and organisations.

Programmes include placing of wreaths at Ahsanullah’s grave at Haiderabad village in Gazipur, recitation of verses from the holy Quran, wearing of black badges, a milad and doa mahfils, discussions and publication of a souvenir.

Tongi Thana AL will hold a discussion tomorrow afternoon at MA Mazid Miah High School to pay their respects.
