More than fifty workers of a furniture factory have been injured in a clash with police in Savar on Tuesday afternoon.
The clash ensued as the workers of Otobi furniture factory at Khagan area under Biruliya Union demonstrated demanding unpaid salary, said Ashulia Industrial Police Director Mustafizur Rahman.
The injured workers were admitted in different local hospitals, he said.
Meanwhile, a local vendor Monir Hossain, and three workers Badal, Hassan and Rabiul Awal were arrested for inciting the workers, said workers and police.
The factory authorities later promised to give the unpaid salary on Tuesday.
As the salary was not given, the workers began a strike in the factory from the morning.
In the afternoon, the factory authority told the workers the salary would be paid on 20th instant that agitated the workers on strike. They went on vandalising in the factory.
Hearing the news, industrial police reached the spot and baton-charged the workers.
The clash between workers and police broke out and more than fifty got injured.
Later, additional police joined the industrial police and brought the situation under control by dispersing the workers with teargas shells and rubber bullets.
Additional police have been deployed in the factory to avoid any untoward situation in further.
