Bus passengers have beaten up a woman and handed her over to Paltan police for allegedly stealing a newborn.
Fuljaan, 55, was caught by the passengers when she was travelling on a bus with a newborn baby on Monday afternoon.
Paltan Sub-Inspector Monibur Rahman said: “Fuljaan and the newborn were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after the passengers handed them over to us.”
He said: "She claimed that she bought the newborn for Tk20,000 from an Akhtaruzzaman of Dholpur, but we did not find truth in her statement when we investigated the matter."
Fuljaan claimed she was going to her brother's house in Faripur to hand over the child.
