The cabinet has approved in principal the draft of the Nuclear Power Plant Plant Act 2015.
The approval came at the regular weekly meeting of the cabinet held at the secretariat chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday.
Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan briefed reporters after the meeting.
The cabinet also approved the proposal to form a company called "Nuclear Power Plant Company Bangladesh." The capital of the company will be of Tk5,087.81 crore, of which Tk4,000crore will be aided by Russia.
Primarily, the company will produce 1,000mW of power.
