Qazi Irteza announces his panel to contest FBCCI election

A panel under the title of “Babosaye Oikkya Parishad” has been announced to contest the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) biennial election for 2015-17 term.

The election is scheduled to be held on May 23.

Panel leader Qazi Irteza Hasan made the announcement at a press conference at a city hotel yesterday. 

Two other key players of the panel are Syed Moazzem Hossain, former president of Bangladesh Indenting Agents Association, and Md Shafqat Haider, president of Bangladesh Association of Call Center and Outsourcing.

Addressing the function as chair, Irteza alleged that the activities of the apex trade body came to a standstill and FBCCI failed to play its proper role in policy making.

He also said the leaders of the apex trade body have also failed to resolve the demands and problems of the businessmen and industrialists of the country. 

The panel vowed to ensure the common interests of businessmen in general and expedite the overall economic development of Bangladesh. 

Babosaye Oikkya Parishad will work to resolve the problems of businessmen, especially small and medium entrepreneurs, set Tax and VAT at a rational level, restore business confidence and provide all-sorts of facilities for women entrepreneurs.

The panel also pledged to ensure utilisation of information technology for the development of business and establishment of a strong modern research and development cell. 

Other members of the panel include Khondoker Ruhul Amin of Four Stroke CNG Association of Bangladesh, Md Mijanur Rahman Babul of Bangladesh Steel Mill Owners Association, Md Jamiul Ahmed of Tourism Developers Association of Bangladesh, Md Ali Jaman of Bangladesh Steel Mills Owners Association, Jakir Ahammad, Bangladesh Boutique House Owners Association, Abul Ayes Khan of Bangladesh Auto Spare Parts Merchants Association, Haji Moajjem Hossain of Bangladesh Footwear and Footwear Accessories Importers Association, Md Aslam Ali of Bangladesh Sub-Contracting Owners Association, MGR Nasir Majumder, Bangladesh Inbound Tour Operators Association, Taher Ahmed Siddique of Bangladesh Egg Producers Association, Md Ibrahim of Bangladesh Master Stevedores Association, Mohammad Ullah Palash of Bangladesh Acid Merchants Association and Mahmuda Mustakima Rubi of Bangladesh Beauty Parlour Owners Association. 

Earlier, two panels led by Nitol Niloy Group Chairman Abdul Matlub Ahmad and FBCCI first Vice-President Monowara Hakim Ali were announced to contest the election of the apex trade body.
