Five people have been killed in separate incidents during thunderstorm in Dirai upazila of Sunamganj.
The deceased are Haribhakta Das, son of late Sachindra Das; Md Abdul Kader, 18, son of Ramjan Ali; Rasheda Begum, 40, wife of Abdul Basit; Raju Mia, 25, son of Alek Mia; and Abdul Jalil, 50.
Dirai police OC Bayes Alam said Rashida Begum was working in the yard of her house when the lightning struck on Saturday morning.
“Four others were killed while cutting paddy in their croplands during the thunderstorm in between 10am and 11am Saturday,” he added.
