Adverse weather may disrupt the joy of Eid-ul-Azha, as the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rain across much of Bangladesh, including Dhaka, on Thursday morning.
The BMD said that many areas in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna and Sylhet divisions may experience temporary gusty or squally winds accompanied by light to moderate rain or thundershowers. In some places, moderate to heavy rainfall is also likely.
Rain or thundershowers may also occur in parts of the Barisal and Chittagong divisions. The department added that daytime temperatures may slightly drop due to rainfall, while nighttime temperatures could rise marginally.
Meteorologist Tariful Newaz said Dhaka may see light to moderate rain on Eid morning, with relatively calm weather in the afternoon before rain returns again in the evening or at night.
Meanwhile, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the east-central Bay of Bengal, which may continue to bring rainfall for two to three days after Eid, according to the weather office.
