Heatwave continues to sweep over country

A mild heatwave is sweeping over different parts of the country, according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD). 

A Met office bulletin said this morning: "Mild heatwave is sweeping over Khulna division and the districts of Dhaka, Madaripur, Gopalgonj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajgonj, Patuakhali, Rangamati, Bandarban, Laxmipur & Feni, and it may continue at places." 

Besides, it forecasted that light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind and lightning flashes are likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh & Sylhet divisions. 

It also said rain may occur at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions with moderate to heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh & Sylhet divisions in the next 24 hours commencing from 9am. 

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the bulletin said.

The highest temperature was recorded on Friday, which was 37.8°C in Rajshahi, and today's minimum temperature was 22.3°C in Tetulia under Rangpur division. 

The sun sets at 6:24pm on Saturday and is expected to rise at 5:28am on Sunday in Dhaka.
