Season’s lowest temperature recorded in Srimangal at 9.6°C

The lowest temperature of the season was recorded in Srimangal, Moulvibazar, as the minimum temperature dropped to 9.6 degrees Celsius, according to the Weather Observation Centre.

The temperature was recorded at 7:00am and again at 9:00am, confirmed Anisur Rahman, an official at the Srimangal Weather Observation Centre.

Over the past few days, temperatures in Srimangal have been fluctuating between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius. Although sunshine during the day slightly eases the intensity of the cold, temperatures drop sharply after sunset, making conditions particularly harsh.

Local inquiries in both urban and rural areas indicate that children and elderly people are the worst affected by the cold weather. After sunset, the cold becomes especially severe.

Despite the low temperatures, tea workers continue their early morning duties in the tea gardens. However, many workers said that, unlike previous years, there has been little distribution of warm clothing this winter by various organizations or government agencies.

In the haor areas, dense fog combined with low temperatures has slowed agricultural activities, as farmers struggle to work in the fields amid poor visibility and cold conditions.

Anisur Rahman of the Srimangal Weather Observation Centre said the minimum temperature again stood at 9.6°C, with a mild cold wave sweeping over Srimangal.
