Farmers of the Jamalpur district are happy getting bumper production of Transplanted Aman (T-Aman) this year.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said a total of 306,361 tons of T-Aman rice was produced in the district exceeding the production target.
This year 17,020 tons additional T-Aman paddy was produced than the last year's production.
The DAE office sources said due to favourable weather and availability of agricultural input farmers got additional production this year.
Of the total production, 85,860 tons was produced in Jamalpur Sadar upazila, 43,040 tons in Sarishabari, 47,378 tons in Melandah, 24,170 tons in Islampur, 20,778 tons in Dewanganj, 42,574 tons in Madarganj and 42,561 tons in Bakshiganj upazila.
Samiul Haque Shamim, a farmer of Daudpur village in Melandah upazila, said he cultivated T-Aman on 10 bighas of land and got bumper production of the paddy.
Deputy Director of DAE Nitai Chandra Banik said due to favourable weather farmers are getting good yield of Aman paddy this year.
