A total of 13 successful farmers have been named for the “Agricultural Important Person (AIP)” award for the year 2020 by the Ministry of Agriculture.
AIP Award 2020 will be officially presented for the first time in Bangladesh at 10am on Wednesday at Osmani Smriti Auditorium in Dhaka, says a press release.
AIP awardees will enjoy the same facilities as “Commercially Important Person (CIP)”, said Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque.
He said this while talking to journalists on the occasion of awarding the AIP award in the conference room of the Ministry at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

The minister said, like Bangabandhu, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is caring about agriculture and farmers.
“Therefore, she has decided to give AIP award every year to honour and encourage the farmers, agricultural scientists, entrepreneurs, and producers who are the key players in the success of agriculture,” he added.
Abdur Razzaque further said: “We want to promote agriculture as a commercial and respectable profession in the future. Through this recognition, individuals and institutions related to agriculture will be encouraged to play a stronger role in the food and nutrition security of Bangladesh.”
According to the minister, a maximum of 45 people will be awarded the AIP award in a total of five categories every year as per the AIP policy.
The validity period of the AIP card is one year.
AIP Policy was first enacted in 2019. In light of this, this honour is being given for the first time since 2020.
