Agri minister: No sanction can hinder Bangladesh’s development

Awami League Presidium Member and Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque has said his party cannot be stopped from developing Bangladesh by any sanctions.

He was addressing an event in Madhupur upazila of Tangail on Friday morning.

“Various foreign newspapers and magazines say that Bangladesh is invincible. We will develop further through the proposed budget [for the fiscal year 2023-24],” he added.

The minister said: “Leaders and activists of the BNP have been saying for the last 14 years that it is a luxury budget, an unrealistic budget, a budget based on imagination.”

Addressing the opposition party, the agriculture minister said: “This budget is realistic. We have been successful in the past and we will be successful in formulating and implementing this budget in the coming days as well.”

“We have increased the revenue of Bangladesh nine times. It will further increase when this budget is enacted,” he added.

He said: “In this year's budget, we have given the highest importance to agriculture. Although not free, we are providing various agricultural machinery, combine harvesters, with a lot of benefits. This budget has been given utmost importance to improve the quality of life of the people of rural Bangladesh.”
