Four die from electrocution in Chuadanga

Four people including a couple died from electrocution in separate incidents in Sadar and Damurhuda upazilas of Chuadanga district on Tuesday.

Liton Ali, a farmer and his wife Lipa Khatun of Kaliabakri village in Damurhuda upazila died after being electrocuted as he came in contact with live electric wire while cutting grass at an electric machine for cattle around 3 pm.

Dr Mostafizur Rahman, a duty officer of Damurhuda Upazila Health Complex, said “We found the two people dead. There were signs on their bodies indicating electrocution. We initially believe they died from electric shock.”

Meanwhile, Shafiqul Islam alias Baru, 48, son of Sirajul Islam of Shantipara in Darshana municipality, was killed by electrocution while attempting to steal an electric motor from a house in Loknathpur of Damurhuda upazila, said Sheikh Mesbah Uddin, Officer-in-Charge of Damurhuda Police Station.

Police said Shafiqul entered the house of Keramat Ali intending to steal the motor. At one point, he was electrocuted while cutting the power connection wires of an electric motor near the house’s water tap.

Necessary legal procedures are underway, said OC.

In Sadar upazila, Nasir Uddin, 40, an easy-bike driver and son of Gias Uddin, died as he came in contact with live electric wire while charging his easy-bike at Alukdia village in Sadar upazila around 12:30 pm, said Maruf Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station.
