Rasraj sent to jail, remand plea rejected

Senior Judicial Magistrate Sultan Sohag Hossain passed the order rejecting on Tuesday afternoon his remand petition. Earlier in the day, the police produced him before the court with a fresh seven-day remand plea in a case filed under the ICT Act. On Sunday, Inspector (Court) Sadhan Kanti Chowdhury sought six-day remand for eight accused of a vandalism case filed over the attacks. The same court today (Tuesday) placed six of the accused on three-day remand each. On October 30, a mob attacked Hindu temples and houses over a defamatory Facebook post allegedly made by Rasraj. Amid the tension, unidentified criminals set ablaze six more Hindu houses in the upazila on November 4.
