Despite notice R&H yet to conduct eviction drive

The department was supposed to conduct an eviction drive in the area on October 27, as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is supposed to visit Shantahar recently. Local people alleged that the owners of the commercial establishments, mainly shops, gave a bribe of Tk10 lakh to Executive Engineer of the department Abdul Halim to stop the eviction. However, Halim refuting the allegation said the eviction drive remained suspended due to lack of necessary manpower and equipment.
