Citizen platform launched to achieve SDGs

A citizens' platform comprising eminent personalities and academicians in Bangladesh has been launched for effective and efficient implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the country. Debapriya Bhattacharya, distinguished fellow at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), formally announced the launching of the platform in Dhaka on Saturday. The core members of the platform include Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya (convener), Advocate Sultana Kamal, Rasheda K Choudhury, Dr Mushtaque Raza Chowdhury, Shaheen Anam, Dr Iftekharuzzaman, Professor Mustafizur Rahman, Syed Nasim Manzur and Asif Ibrahim. Moreover, some 28 leading civil society organisations joined the platform as partners, who are engaged or preparing to engage themselves with the activities related to the SDGs. The CPD will work as the secretariat of the platform. Advisers of the platform include Prof Rehman Sobhan, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, Prof Anisuzzaman, Prof Zamilur Reza Chowdhury, artist Mustafa Monowar, Raja Debashis Roy, Syed Mansur Elahi, Prof Wahiduddin Mahmud, Prof Abdullah Abu Sayeed and Shykh Seraj.
