4 more bodies recovered from Tongi gutted factory

Rescuers have found four more bodies under the debris at burnt down Tampaco Foils Limited at Tongi of Gazipur on Sunday evening, taking the death count in the tragedy to 29. “We have found four more bodies immediately after the rescue operation started by removing debris with bulldozers of Gazipur City Corporation,” Gazipur Deputy Commissioner SM Alam told the Dhaka Tribune at around 5:50pm. The DC, however, said the victims could not be identified yet. Moreover, a man injured in Saturday’s fire at a Tongi packaging factory has succumbed to his injuries around 3am on Sunday at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said residential surgeon Parthi Sonkor Pal. The deceased was identified as Ripon Das, 30. Earlier, the deadly boiler blast caused a fire at the packaging factory in Tongi BSCIC industrial area in the early hours of Saturday, leaving 24 people killed and 50 more injured.
