Special security measures taken for Eid-ul-Azha

The details were hammered in this regard at a meeting on overall law and order situation during Eid-ul-Azha holidays at the Ministry of Home Affairs yesterday, with the minister, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, in chair, reported UNB.
Top officials of different law enforcement and intelligence agencies were present at the meeting.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, the home minister said additional police members would be deployed at Eidgahs to prevent subversive activities on Eid day.
Asked if there is any threat targeting Eid, he said the law enforcement agencies would remain alert whether there is any threat or not.
Security will be ensured on highways, railways and river routes so that Eid holiday makers can go home safely, while 15 watch towers will be set up in different strategic points of highways as part of ensuring traffic management so that vehicles can run smoothly, said the minister, adding that special measures have also been taken to prevent extortion from cattle-laden vehicles.
Asaduzzaman said police will ensure round-the-clock security at 23 cattle markets in the capital to prevent unpleasant incidents. Besides, initiatives have also been taken to prevent the flow of counterfeit currency in the cattle markets.
Around 90% shopping malls in the capital have installed CCTV cameras, which will help police to ensure smooth security, he said.
The home minister also said garments and textiles owners were requested to pay salary and bonus of their employees by September 10 and announce Eid holidays in phases to prevent chaotic situations on the road ahead of Eid.
