Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammed Aminur Rashid on Saturday called upon BNP leaders and activists at all levels to work in unity, inspired by the ideals and patriotism of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
He said one of the key lessons of "National Revolution and Solidarity Day" is the establishment of national unity.
Embracing this spirit, he said, all should work together under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman aiming to make the nation stronger and more prosperous one.
The agriculture minister made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting, organised by Comilla South District and City units of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), marking the National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
He said November 7 holds great significance in the history of Bangladesh. Amid various political crises and uncertainties, the uprising of soldiers and the public on this day in 1975 carved a unique place for itself in the nation's history, he said.
Aminur said the core essence of this day is to set aside differences and unite, and this unity must be further strengthened in the national interest.
Speakers at the discussion said the National Revolution and Solidarity Day represents a crucial chapter in the country's political history.
They stressed conveying the significance of this day to the younger generation to uphold the ideals of independence, sovereignty, democracy and national unity.
They also urged the party men to play a responsible role in nation-building and strengthening democratic institutions by following the ideals of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
