PBI: Tahsif's motorcycle found near Turag River

The motorcycle of former Air Force official Tahsif Souri has been found near the spot where his floating body was recovered from the Turag River, PBI chief Mostafa Kamal said on Friday morning:

“We have recovered Tahsif's motorcycle from near the scene,” he told bdnews24.com.

Tahsif, who came into the spotlight as the alleged person who recorded a video of deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina leaving the country, was found dead in the Turag River on Wednesday afternoon.

Another PBI headquarters superintendent of police, Abu Yusuf, told the media that they were verifying the motorcycle's ownership. He added that the PBI was assisting the river police with the investigation.

Ahmed Shahriar Reza Deep, a younger friend of Tahsif who had called him out of his home before he went missing, was taken into custody for questioning by PBI Dhaka Metro North on Thursday night.

The police official said investigators conducted overnight raids at several locations with Deep.

The official said that Deep mentioned some people chased him and Tahsif, and Tahsif jumped into the river, while he fled.

He added that investigators were verifying Deep's account along with other information obtained during questioning.

Additional Inspector General of Police Mostafa Kamal said investigators had gathered several pieces of information after taking Deep into custody.

Tahsif's father, Enayetul Karim, said his son had left home on Tuesday evening after receiving a phone call from Deep. At around 1:35am, Tahsif sent a message to his mother's mobile phone saying he was on his way home.

Speaking on Thursday afternoon, his father said the message made Tahsif appear to be in a hurry. No further information about his whereabouts had been available since then.

However, a close relative of Tahsif said the last voice message sent to his mother's phone did not sound like him.
